Accomplishments
- Completed Open Space Vision Plan and Map
- Testimony/recommendations; Lake George Unit Management Plan and Erie Canalway National Heritage Corridor public hearing
- Meeting with the Recreation Commission to outline role of OSP Committee and ways the OSP Committee can help (research, grant writing assistance); Memorandum of Understanding
- Investigated access to Dunham's Bay Wetlands. Conceptual agreement with Recreation Commission for future maintenance. Conceptual agreement with NYS DEC to build.
- Budget funding available from LGWC for a Lake George access project ($15,000)
- Meetings with kindred organizations; Queensbury Land Conservancy (QLC), Warren County Soil & Water Conservation District (WCS&WCD)
- Reviewed offers of land with Recreation Commission
- Developed volunteer list
Future Priorities
The OSP Committee needs to be appointed on annual basis. There is no committee yet appointed for 2004. A list of potential members, in addition to a list of volunteers who have asked to assist with the implementation of the plan in some way, has been forwarded to the Town Supervisor.
