Hudson River Park

Big Boom Road

The Town’s newest park facility is located on the shores of the Hudson River at the end of Big Boom Road. The 44-acre site was donated for park and recreational purposes by Carl and Barbara DeSantis. The recreational facilities include a boat launch, softball field, picnic pavilion and cookout sites, a basketball court, and a children’s play apparatus area. Funding for the park project was provided through a State and Federal grant program, as well as Town resources. The recreational facilities at the park will be available for use during daylight hours only. The boat launch has sufficient vehicle/trailer parking and provides access to a six mile stretch of river for those who wish to enjoy a variety of passive recreational endeavors. The park has over 2000 feet of accessible shoreline for fishing enthusiasts, however swimming is prohibited. Future development at the site will include an interpretive nature trail/cross-country ski trails, a sand volleyball court, as well as other ancillary facilities.
