Rush Pond Trail in Queensbury NY Offers Hiking, Biking, & Winter Fun!

blog-post

Last year, work was completed on the Rush Pond Trail System in Queensbury NY after nearly ten years of work. The one-way, 2.2 mile nature trail offers plenty of occasions to observe Mother Nature with scenic views of the pond and wildlife in the woods between Queensbury School System complex and the Gurney Lane Recreation Area (both of which have excellent trail systems as well).

Rush Pond Trail offers opportunities for outdoor recreation all four seasons, with mountain biking, running, and biking in the warmer months; snowshoeing and cross country skiing in the winter. Trekkers will enjoy the beautifully crafted bridges along the way and the eye-catching scenery of the Rush Pond Wetlands.

If you are feeling adventurous, there are several small trails that intersect with the Rush Pond Trail and add some fun diversity to your exploration. Skiers and bikers will love the assorted challenges! West Mountain Road, Rush Pond, and I-87 are almost always within view and let you know your location. Parking is located at the intersection of West Mountain Road and Gurney Lane. You will see the large sign for Rush Pond Trail. A paved walk brings you down to the pond and runs along its edge before ending up at Fox Farm Road in Queensbury.

Be cautious during the winter months, as conditions can be very icy. The trail system is open during daylight hours, with leashed dogs permitted.

Queensbury NY residents are fortunate to have access to hundreds of miles of bikeways, trails, walkways, and preserves that offer opportunities for all types of outdoor enthusiasts!
