Are you looking for additional things to do in and around Queensbury on Memorial Day weekend? There is something for everyone going on in the region!

4th Annual Food and Farm Festival

Go check out the 4th Annual Food and Farm Festival. It will be held in Glens Falls City Park on Sunday, May 28th from 12-5 pm. The festival is held by the Glen’s Falls Food Co-Op, and will feature booths from different farms, food vendors, artisans, nonprofit groups, and others. There will be raffles, activities for children and live entertainment by local musicians. This is a fun treat for the whole family. Admission is free with non-GMO food donations, which support community food pantries. While you’re there, if you have an interest in perennial plants, you’ll find the Lake George Community Garden Club putting on their 2017 Perennial Plant Sale at the Festival as well. Proceeds from this sale are used to fund civic beautification and community service projects, scholarships and camperships for area youth.

For Veterans and Military Members

If you are a veteran or active member of the military, the Lake George Steamboat Company is offering free rides with military ID all day Monday, May 29th. If you’re a runner (or simply enjoy a good race) the Memorial Mile will be held in Glens Falls on Monday May 29th. This race is often tagged the ‘Flattest & Fastest Mile North of the Hudson’. The race starts in front of the Bullpen on Glen Street at 9:55 am, just before the Memorial Day Parade begins.

Amusement Park Fun!

As Memorial Day is often considered the unofficial first day of summer, Memorial Day weekend is also the opening day for amusement parks in Lake George. One is Six Flags Splash Water Kingdom. This water park playground is a favorite among locals and visitors alike, and is free with your Great Escape admission. So if you’re looking to cool down, get out your bathing suit and check out their brand new Bonzai Pipelines. Another park that opens Memorial Day weekend is Magic Forest, a historic kiddie park. If you have young children, this is a great choice for a day of family fun. There are 25 rides, a train and tram, exhibits like Santa’s House, magic shows and more.  There is a mile long narrated safari that includes sounds of wild animals, and there are live animals that children can feed. You’ll also see costumed characters walking the Fairy Tale Trail, where kids can listen to fairy tales while seeing characters and settings. They have a snack bar and ample seating and shade throughout the park for parents and grandparents.

Glenwood Manor Memorial Day Show & Sale

If you happen to have an eye for antiques or enjoy shopping for unique items, you should get over to Glenwood Avenue in Queensbury during the weekend.  Glenwood Manor Antiques and More will be holding a Memorial Day Show and Sale. It’s an outdoor sale with quality antiques, held rain or shine from 10 am until 4 pm, Saturday through Monday.

Adirondack Craft Beverage Trail

Another great option for any weekend is the Adirondack Craft Beverage Trail. If you would like to enjoy an adult beverage, grab an Adirondack Craft Beverage Trail Map and discover the local breweries, distilleries and wineries in the area. Each maker on the trail is a small business located in the southern Adirondack and northern Capital District. Support your local economy while enjoying some delicious craft beverages.

Whatever you choose to do, we hope you have a happy and safe holiday weekend!
