Queensbury Seniors

About Us

Queensbury Senior Citizens, Inc. (QSC) is a local nonprofit that is dedicated to promoting aging well in the Adirondacks. We offer a variety of activities and programs to our members aged 55 and older that focus on social interaction, educational growth, physical activity and giving back to our community through charitable support. We currently have over 1000 members in Warren, Washington and Northern Saratoga counties, with the majority residing in Queensbury and Lake George, the foothills of the Adirondack Park.

Our History

Realizing the need for programs and services for senior citizens in the town of Queensbury, citizen Arthur Turnbull in January of 1980 successfully persuaded the Queensbury town board to form a senior citizens committee. On March 7, 1980 a group of more than 100 like-minded seniors met at the Queensbury town hall to elect the first slate of officers with Turnbull as President, and on March 17, 1980 the group’s first monthly meeting was held at the Mohican Grange Hall. Two months later on April 28, 1980 a Certificate of Incorporation was filed and Queensbury Senior Citizens Inc. (QSC) was born.

A Little About Our Staff

Stephanie Smith is the Director of the QSC. She began as the Administrative Assistant in 2020 and was promoted to Director in the Fall of 2021. Stephanie has a background in non-profit work and is always looking to add new and exciting programs to the QSC calendar. She has lived in Queensbury with her family for over ten years and in her spare time loves to golf, garden and hike with her dog Maizie.

Elizabeth Stone joined the QSC as an Administrative Assistant in 2021 and keeps the organization running smoothly. She also plans the travel program for the QSC which includes day trips, 3-4 night domestic trips and extended, international trips. Elizabeth lives in Lake George with her husband, two daughters and two huskies. She loves to boat on Lake George and hike in the Adirondacks with the dogs.
