Climate Smart Communities Program

Queensbury Climate Smart Certification Initiative

State Support for Local Climate Action

Climate Smart Communities (CSC) is a New York State program that helps local governments take action to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and adapt to a changing climate. Benefits include leadership recognition, free technical assistance, and access to grants.

Registered communities have made a commitment to act by passing the CSC pledge. Certified communities are the foremost leaders in the state; they have gone beyond the CSC pledge by completing and documenting a suite of actions that mitigate and adapt to climate change at the local level.

See the NYS Department of Conservation outlines or 7 elements for local certification

Climate Smart Communities Certification

The Climate Smart Communities (CSC) Certification program supports your local government in building a sustainable, balanced climate action program, one step at a time.

The CSC Certification program provides local governments with a robust framework to guide climate action and enables high-performing communities to achieve recognition for their leadership.
